Airtel Network Mast Gutted in Fire Incident in Ilorin West, Fire Service Responds Swiftly
The Airtel network mast 614, located in the Osin-Okete area of Osin, Ilorin West Local Government Area, was gutted by fire on Monday.
According to a statement by the Kwara State Fire Service spokesperson, Hassan Adekunle, the incident occurred at approximately 13:27 hours in the state capital, Ilorin.
Fire service personnel arrived on site at 13:27 hours and immediately commenced emergency operations.
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered the network mast already ablaze.
"A generator at the site was affected; however, the swift and coordinated actions of the fire crew significantly limited further damage to the mast and nearby equipment," the statement read.
The blaze was brought under control by 14:04 hours, with no reported casualties.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and investigations are ongoing.
Preliminary findings are being compiled and the cause of the fire will be confirmed following further investigation, the statement added.
Director, Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, commended the prompt response of the crew.
He equally urged the public and facility managers to maintain proper electrical and fuel safety measures and to report emergencies immediately to minimise risk and damage.
