Peaceful polls: Kwara FIBAN takes campaign to markets, motor parks
The Freelance and Independent Broadcasters' Association of Nigeria, (FIBAN) Kwara state chapter yesterday took the campaign for a violence free election to markets and motor parks across the metropolis.
Speaking with The Herald Arts the chairman of the committee, Taiwo Akinmoladun popularly known as Marose, said the purpose of the rally is to sensitize the general public on the need for a violence free election.
"As the 2015 general election draws near with all the unease and outcry it became expedient on us as broadcasters to go on the field and sensitize the populace on the need to be peaceful, before, during and after the coming election.
"We have been preaching this on our individual programs but the leadership of the association thought it wise to come out physically and remind our people to shun violence in this election," he said.
The programme which was tagged Stop Violence, Vote Wisely took members of the association to Ipata Market, Oja-Oba market, Oja Tuntun Market, Sawmill Garage, Offa Garage and Maraba Garage, all in Ilorin metropolis.
