The National President of the Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU), Alhaji Abdulmumini Ayo Abdulmalik, has welcomed the appointment of Olatunji Rilwan Disu as the new Inspector-General of Police.

In a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the union, Mallam Suleiman Shuaib Dagbo, Abdulmalik described the appointment as timely and significant, given the prevailing security challenges in the country.

He characterized Disu as a distinguished and thoroughbred officer with an impressive record of service, noting that his experience gathered over the past three decades across various parts of Nigeria has prepared him to lead the nation’s police effectively.

Abdulmalik, a retired Assistant Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, said Disu is known to be friendly yet firm in his professional dealings. He added that the new police chief has maintained cordial relationships with the people of Ilorin Emirate throughout his postings.

The IEDPU president prayed for divine guidance for Disu in his new role and urged him to work toward significantly reducing insecurity nationwide.

He also appealed for the deployment of additional personnel and resources to Kwara State to strengthen security, particularly in response to recent banditry attacks in parts of the state.

Abdulmalik wished the new Inspector-General a peaceful and successful tenure.
