Groups, NLC Chief Urge Caution over Kwara Land, Offa-Erin-Ile Crises
Four political groups in Ilorin Thursday warned against any acts that could damage the reputation of the wife of the immediate past governor of Kwara State, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Saraki.
Their leaders, under the aegis of Peace of Kwara Forum (PKF), at a press briefing warned those who seek to pull down "an amazon" like Oluwatoyin to jettison the idea for peace in the state.
The PKF, an amalgam of ‘Alaafia' Kwara (led by Mrs. Kudirat Lawal), Toyin Saraki Women Forum (headed by Hajia Ramat Bolude), Ilorin Emirate Youth Forum (presided over by Oladimeji Suleiman Gambari) and Maja Movement women leader, Iyabo Mogaji, all condemned attempts by "a group of persons" to use litigation rather than other dispute resolution methods "known to the emirate" to resolve crisis.
Their warning followed a recent suit filed at an Ilorin High Court in which Mrs. Saraki, among others, is alleged to have benefited from the alleged sale of Amusement Park in Ilorin.
Also, Alhaji Suleiman Yusuf, a Saraki acolyte, urged "those behind this development aimed at tarnishing Toyin's image" to join the moving train of those who have visions for the development of the state and "not the hypocrites under the guise of elders."
Meanwhile, Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Vice President, Issa Aremu, has cautioned the Kwara government against actions that could erode democratic culture in the state.
Following the recent outbreak of war between the people of Offa and Erin-Ile in the state, the Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed-led government had announced the suspension of the chairmen of Offa and Oyun councils where the two communities are located.
It appointed sole administrators to run the councils' affairs for the next three months.
Aremu, who urged members of the two communities to emulate the people of Ilorin Emirate, said only a peaceful atmosphere could guarantee development.
