KWASU VC Congratulates Dr. Olohungbebe on Historic Education Commissioner Appointment
The Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University (KWASU), Prof. Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, has congratulated Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe on his recent appointment as Commissioner of the Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development in Kwara State.
Prof. Jimoh extended his well-wishes during a courtesy visit to Dr. Olohungbebe's office on Thursday, 20th March 2025. He highlighted that Dr. Olohungbebe is the first serving KWASU staff member to assume the role of Education Commissioner, praising him as an innovative, diligent, and principled professional with exemplary work ethics.
The Vice-Chancellor underscored the importance of the visit as a recognition of Dr. Olohungbebe's contributions to fostering peaceful collaborations between KWASU and its host communities during his tenure as Coordinator of the university's Centre for Community Development. Prof. Jimoh expressed confidence that Olohungbebe's expertise will drive further advancements in the state's education sector.
He further stated that the entire KWASU community takes pride in Dr. Olohungbebe's achievements and encouraged him to continue to be an ambassador of the institution in both his official and private endeavours.
In his response, Dr. Olohungbebe expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for his support and mentorship, describing Professor Jimoh's integrity and philosophy of life as exemplary.
He also extended his appreciation to past Vice-Chancellors of Kwara State University, Professor AbdulRasheed Na'Allah and the late Professor M.M. Akanbi, SAN, acknowledging that the opportunity to serve the university laid a strong foundation for his career.
Similarly, the Vice-Chancellor, accompanied by Principal Officers, was at the office of the new Commissioner of Planning and Economic Development, Dr. Mary Ronke Arinde.
Dr. Arinde, who was reassigned from the Tertiary Education Ministry, was recognized by Professor Jimoh for her significant contributions to Kwara State University.
In her response, Dr. Arinde expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor and his team for the honour of their visit. She pledged her continued support to the university and emphasized that the visit would further inspire her to serve Kwara State diligently.
