N19.5m Property Destroyed As Fire Razes 15 Shops In Kwara

A midnight fire outbreak on Monday in Ilorin, Kwara State ravaged 15 shops and destroyed property estimated at N19.5 million.

The incident occurred at the 20- shop Atiba- Iyalamu complex, near Oja- Tuntun, Ilorin.

The estimated property saved from the remaining five shops which were not affected by the fire outbreak is put at N10.7 million.

The spokesman of Kwara State Fire Service, Hassan Adekunle confirmed that the inferno affected 15 out of the 20 shops in the complex.

Adekunle added:” Fire burnt 15 shops in a shopping complex comprising 20 shops at Atiba-Iyalamu Oja-Tuntun Area, in Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State.

“The fire outbreak occurred at midnight hours Today, 14th November 2022, and no one was able to notice the ravaging inferno on time.

“However, men of the State Fire Service were able to immediately stop the further spread of the inferno and subsequently eliminated it. Firemen were able to save the surrounding buildings from the scathed inferno.”
