Easter: Labour Party urges Nigerians to pray for Leah Sharibu

Date: 2018-04-03

The National Chairman of the Labour Party, Dr Mike Omotosho, yesterday called on Nigerians to pray for safe return of yet to be released Leah Sharibu of Government Girls Technical College, Dapchi in Yobe State from captivity.

Leah Sharibu is being held hostage by Boko Haram insurgents following her refusal to renounce her christian faith while others abducted along with her were freed after government's series of negotiations.

In his Easter Message issued in Ilorin yesterday, Dr Omotosho urged the citizens to seek the face of God for the arrival of the remaining abducted girl.

He also tasked Nigerians home and abroad, particularly Christian community to seize the opportunity of the Easter celebration to pray fervently to God for the nation to surmount her numerous challenges.

? "Easter celebration is a crucial moment, not just to the Christians, but also to the Nigerian nation, a country with unparalleled reverence to God. For the Christians, it marks the resurrection of Christ from death. It is a symbol of victory over forces of darkness.

"Thus, for Nigeria, where a huge chunk of her population is Christian, it should be a time to tap into that celebrated victory of Christ and reach out for the restoration of its glory as the greatest black nation on the planet", Omotosho said.

? The Labour party boss also called on Nigerian political leaders to learn to live a life of sacrifice for the good of the nation, saying "this is an example laid down by Christ more than two thousand years ago, and for which he is thus celebrated and followed ardently today".

He urged the nation’s political leaders to put the interests of the nation first as Christ put the salvation of the world first.

? Omotosho prayed for the nation's economic and political victory for the citizens of Nigeria ahead of the forthcoming 2019 general elections.
