Karate boss pledges progress
President of Karate Federation of Nigeria (KFN), Chief Donatus Agu Ejidike, has reiterated his determination to develop the sport to international level through school games, technical workshops and championships.
Ejidike, who made the declaration in Ilorin at the weekend, appealed to stakeholders to work in unity to take the country's karate to the next level.
The KFN president who is also Pillar of Sports in Kwara State, charged the KFN board members to evolve programmes that would enhance the sport.
"This is the time to double our effort at ensuring that karate becomes a popular and enviable sport like football in Nigeria," Ejidike said.
"I also call on the Federal Government, particularly National Sports Commission and the Nigeria Olympic Committee to provide the enabling environment and platform for KFN to flourish," he added, stressing, "Our board will accommodate progressive stakeholders."
