Unuanel declares war on Sharks FC
By Bakare Idowu
Kwara United head coach, Samson Unuanel has declared that his plan is to stun Sharks in their Matchday 3 of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
But The former Ocean Boys' head coach also identified the Augustine Eguavoen factor as a massive advantage for Sharks.
Speaking ahead of his side's encounter against Sharks FC, Unuanel said: "We are here for business and we will give our best to get the points. We know that Sharks has a good team with a new experienced coach in person of Augustine Eguavoen but the boys are raring to go and ready to do the battle, we are prepared we are expecting a tough test."
He disclosed that he was so bitter to share points at home with visiting Sunshine Stars in a Week 2 match.
"I want to appeal to the fans and management to be patient with the team as the league is still young and promised his side will improve as the league continues. We have learnt our lesson and we will mend our loopholes. We were nervous and wasteful upfront, and also, we need to address our tactical discipline," admitted the coach.
Unuanel was also satisfied with the level of officiating in the game.
"Although we had a penalty call in the game but I gave the ref the benefit of doubt. If a player misses a spot kick or a clear chance we forgive them but if it's the ref then we say he has taken a bribe," remarked Unuanel.
The coach also commended the level of the standard of the league, saying three away wins after two rounds of matches says a lot on the level of improvement.
In a game where Kwara United dominated the first half with series of missed chances, beach soccer star, Abu Azeez put Kwara United ahead in the 60th minute before Christian Josiah's header off a corner kick ensured the share of the spoil with minutes left to play for.
The team arrived Port Harcourt on Friday and will have a light training on Saturday at the Sharks Stadium before the Week 3 game on Sunday from 4pm.
