Four suspects have been arrested in connection with a robbery at a residence in Tanke, Ilorin - a student-heavy area of Kwara State. The incident occurred at the home of Abdulrazak Dotunji in Oke Odo, Tanke, when armed men reportedly stormed the property.

Residents alerted local police, who swiftly mobilised to the scene. According to sources, three suspects were apprehended at the site, while the fourth fled but was later detained.

Daily Trust reported the arrests, noting the rapid police response in a neighbourhood densely populated by students. The case underscores ongoing security concerns in areas with high student activity.

"Shortly after, another suspect was intercepted during a stop-and-search operation around Sanrab junction, near the University of Ilorin axis.

"One more individual is said to have escaped arrest," a source said.

Our correspondent learnt that a Bajaj motorcycle allegedly used during the operation, a knife and two industrial oxygen gas cylinders among other items, were recovered from them.

The suspects are said to be currently in police custody at the state command.

Spokeswoman of the command, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, confirmed the development to Daily Trust on Wednesday.

She gave the names of the suspects as Danjuma Abubakar, Alkassim Abubakar, Mohammed Ibrahim and Mohammed Awal.

"Yes, it is true and investigations are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing accomplices," she said.
