Having identified with the ruling APC, aligning myself with what the majority of Kwara opposition wants, I am shocked to discover that the APC is not any better than the PDP we left behind.And while some may insist that platforms does not matter, that candidates are the only ones that matter, I beg to disagree because you cannot build something on nothing.

When a political party orchestrate a sham direct primary election, you already know that such a political party does not have the interest of its rank and file as the centerpiece of its agenda. Add the brazen assault on democracy in the state of Osun and the ongoing assault on participative democracy in the great state of Kwara, it has become abundantly clear that we need a new platform, one untainted from the dark days of our past and one that I am sure can lead us on the path of sustainable development.

Ladies and gentlemen, it is my privilege to announce to you my membership of the Abundant Nigeria Renewal Party (ANRP) and also to inform you that I was nominated on October 7, 2018 as the gubernatorial candidate of the ANRP in Kwara state, I have accepted the nomination because it is clear to me that the ANRP is a new wine, in a new bottle, for a new era.

My candidacy presents an opportunity for us to hit the reset button and have a Governor that will fight as hard for you as he would for his children because in the real sense, you all are my family and no one part of this family can feel whole if another part of it is suffering.

In my Kwara community, it is most likely that I will know the jobless graduate, the elderly pan handler, the single mother with kids trying to survive, and the middle aged man who is employed but his take home pay can't take him home. These are all of our families and because they are family, we have a responsibility to protect them, to fight for them and to put their interest side by side with ours.

The official declaration of my candidacy is scheduled for 11 am, November 17th, 2018 at the Circular Hotel, Ilorin, Kwara state. The unveiling of the Kwara Renaissance Document/Manifesto is scheduled for December 1, 2018 at a venue and time to be announced later. The unveiling of the Kwara Renaissance Document will be an opportunity for me to lay out my agenda for Kwara in front of the people of the state of harmony.

A little bit about me

I am a leadership/management scholar/consultant, an author and public intellectual. I earned a Bsc in Economics from the Bayero University, Kano, Nigeria in 1999 and subsequently went on to earn an Msc in Organizational Leadership and a Ph.D. in Global Leadership/Organizational Management from the Indiana Institute of Technology, Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA.

Over the last 19 years, I have served in an array of private and public sector roles. Starting out at the Central Bank of Nigeria, Jos, Plateau State as an NYSC intern in 1999, I founded a trading company immediately after the one year mandatory NYSC in 2000. In 2001, I moved to the United States and had opportunities to work in middle management first with a small fortune 1000 company and later with a global fortune 500 company. Between 2001 and 2010, I was at various times, an Assistant General Manager, a General Manager and a Multi – Brand General Manager. In this role, I was responsible for revenue and assets worth millions of dollars and over see tens of direct reports. In 2011, I worked as a Research/Strategy officer in the successful Jonathan/Sambo 2011 Presidential campaign. I later went on to serve as a Special Assistant at the Peoples' Democratic Party Headquarters, Wadata Plaza, Abuja, Nigeria. First in the office of the National Secretary and later in the office of the Acting National Chairman. In 2013, I served as a Special Assistant to the Board Chairman, Nigerian Railway Corporation. Since 2014, I have served as a managing partner/lead consultant at Clearwater Management Consulting, a management and strategy consulting firm with offices in Ilorin, Abuja and Fort Wayne, USA.
