KWASU students awarded IEDF UK scholarships

The Ilorin Emirates Development Forum (IEDF) based in the United Kingdom (UK) has awarded scholarships to five students of the Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete.

They were awarded the sum of hundred thousand naira (N100,000) each in the maiden edition of the Scholarship Award Scheme for the 2017/2018 Academic Session.

The beneficiaries, who are indigenes of Ilorin Emirate, include Habeeb Babatunde Idris, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering (500L); Sodiq Biodun Sulaimon, Electrical and Computer Engineering (400L); and Ashimiyu Abimbola Bolaji, Library and Information Science (400L).

Others are Ridwan Abdulsalam, Accounting (400L); and Rukayat Damilola Idris, Microbiology (400L).

The students, nominated by the University, were selected based on academic merit and financial need.

In a letter jointly signed by its Interim Chairman, Dr. Nasir Babatunde and the Interim Vice Chairman, Mr. Lanre Sanni, the Forum thanked the KWASU Management for the opportunity to partner with the University.

Acknowledging the giant strides being made by KWASU, the Forum said it considered the scholarship scheme as the beginning of what it hoped would become a great and sustainable charitable project. On

is part, the KWASU Vice-Chancellor, Professor AbdulRasheed Na'Allah, commended the IEDF UK for the initiative, which he described as a step in the right direction.
