Man docked for stealing from ex-gov
Abubakar of No. 1 University Road, Tanke, Ilorin, was arraigned on a two-count charge of criminal trespass and theft, offences that are contrary to sections 97 and 287 of Penal Code. The suspect was accused of stealing tyres valued at N200,000 at Olatinwo’s residence.
According to the police First Information Report (FIR), Abubakar “criminally trespassed and entered into the house of one Mr Olatinwo, a former military administrator of Kwara State, where he stole four vehicle tyres 275/70 by 14rims valued at N200,000 from a Mercedes Benz parked in the premises”.
The report said prelimi-nary investigation revealed that the suspect is a mechanic apprentice who had once worked on the car in the premises.
The prosecutor, Godwin Azua., opposed the bail application of the suspect and urged the court to remand him pending conclusion of investigation.
Defence counsel, Ismail Adua, opposed the prose-cution’s submissions and pleaded bail for his client.
Magistrate Jubril Salihu admitted the suspect to bail in the sum of N100,000 and one reliable surety and adjourned the case to March 5, 2015.
