Kwara ACN, CPC Disown New Group

Date: 2013-03-11

Kwara State chapter of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) have dissociated themselves from the formation of a new political group, “Kwara Leadership Caucus” which hinged its emergence on the need to salvage the state from a decade of “misrule and underdevelopment”.

The political group led by Mr. Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo, a former Commissioner in the state and Alhaji Tunde Mohammed as protem chairman and secretary respectively, had in a statement said the intent of the group was to wrestle power from the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) in 2015.

“The formation of the body is in response to the need to revamp Kwara state from decades of misrule and embarrassing underdevelopment. The group is to checkmate the continued slide of the state to yet another round of one-man dominated democracy in the state”, the group had said.

Daily Trust gathered that the new group may have broken away from the ACN following irreconcilable internal squabbles.

However, ACN and CPC, the main opposition parties in the state which have also vowed to dislodge the ruling party in the 2015 election said they have nothing to do with the group saying they are committed  to the current national merger arrangement in the country.
