ASUP Offa Fires Back at Management Calls Conduct Shamefully Mischievous
The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Offa chapter, has publicly accused the management of the institution of betrayal of trust following a disagreement between the two bodies.
Chairman of the chapter, Dr. Idowu Atilola, while reacting to the management's position on the conflict, argued that the management is either "not thorough or is being shamefully mischievous."
Dr. Atilola revealed that a written agreement was made involving key figures: "The Governing Council, Rector, Registrar, Deans, and Directors went into an agreement with the union in writing, and the defense being presented is that the management has decided to renege on the agreement."
He further alleged: "The management has betrayed the union and has also failed public trust by diverting monies meant for staff, and it behoves the union to bring them back to perspective."
The Chairman also informed members that the management failed to withdraw invitations given to union members within the specified time frame, leaving the union "no choice but to move forward."
"We will not retreat, we will not surrender, we are ASUP," the union declared.
Efforts to reach the spokesman of the institution, Iroye Yinka, on Wednesday were unsuccessful, as his phone number was not reachable and a text message sent to him was not responded to at the time of this report.
