Kwara Government Begins Sensitisation for Measles Rubella Vaccination Campaign
The Kwara State Government, acting through the State Primary Health Care Development Agency (KWSPHCDA), is preparing to kick off a series of activities aimed at sensitising and mobilising residents ahead of the upcoming Measles Rubella (MR) Vaccination Campaign.
The comprehensive campaign is scheduled to be carried out across all 16 Local Government Areas of the state.
The Executive Secretary of the KWSPHCDA, Professor Nusirat Elelu, reaffirmed the state government's unwavering commitment to "protecting every child in Kwara." She issued a strong appeal to parents, caregivers, and community leaders to ensure there is full participation in the vaccination drive.
She explained that "the exercise is part of ongoing efforts to reduce the burden of preventable diseases in the state."
Prof. Elelu appreciated the support of development partners, including the World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF, and the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), for their continued collaboration in strengthening immunisation and primary healthcare delivery.
The campaign will be preceded by a novelty football match on Wednesday, 8th October at the Kwara Football Academy, and an official flag-off ceremony by the First Lady of Kwara State, Ambassador Professor Olufolake AbdulRazaq, on Thursday, 9 October.
Activities will culminate in an awareness walk on Friday, 10 October, while the vaccination exercise will begin on Saturday, 11 October 2025, across all local government areas.
