Pro-Democracy Group Applauds Gov. Abdulrazaq's Infrastructure Drive in Kwara
As reported by Nigerian Tribune, the Alliance For Sustainable Kwara (ASK), a leading pro-democracy group, has praised Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for his gradual transformation of Kwara State into a model of development.
The commendation came in a statement signed by the group's secretary, Alhaji Abdullahi Olesin, after the organization's monthly meeting, chaired by Alhaji Abdulrazaq Lawal.
According to Lawal, the governor has not only reshaped Ilorin, the state capital, into a modern city but has also made strides to improve living conditions in all parts of the state through various infrastructural projects.
He pointed to the recent flag-off of the construction and rehabilitation of 209.77 kilometers of rural roads across the three senatorial districts as a clear indication of Governor Abdulrazaq's commitment to leaving a lasting legacy in Kwara.
The statement also thanked the governor, who is the Sardauna of Ilorin, for his interest in the development of every part of the state.
He also expressed delight about the level of construction works at the Osi (Kwara South) and Baruten (Kwara North) satellite campuses of the Kwara State University, Malete (KWASU).
The former commissioner for Special Duties in the state noted that the two KWASU satellite campuses, when they fully become operational, will create thousands of direct and indirect jobs for the people of the state.
He said the university campuses will also bring out the transformation of the host communities from rural areas to model cities.
Lawal also applauded the establishment of Kwara State University of Education, Ilorin by the governor and the subsequent appointment of a woman, Professor Medinat Salman, as the pioneer acting vice chancellor of the new university.
While assuring the governor of the continued support of members of ASK for his people-centered administration, Lawal urged the governor not to be distracted by the opposition elements who he noted are not interested in the development of the state, but personally aggrandizement.
He said history will be kind to Governor AbdulRazaq for his statesmanship, self-denial, sacrifices, prudent management of the state's resources, and commitment to the development of the state.
