Foundation signs ₦26.5m MoU With Kwara CSO
An anti-corruption Civil Society Organization, Elites Network for Sustainable Development (ENetSuD), has partnered with the Gobir Organization Foundation (GOF) by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) worth ₦26.5m
The signing of the MoU is to enhance and facilitate the CSO’s set goals in line with its Citizens Enlightenment and Mobilization Program (CEMP) across the 193 wards of the 16 LGAs in Kwara State.
The statement confirmed that GOF has committed a part payment of ₦10 million to ENetSuD as the first tranche of the project sum while signing the MoU on Tuesday in Ilorin by the Founder of the Foundation, Waziri Yakubu Gobir.
Gobir commended the civil society organisation for its unrelenting efforts in sensitising and educating the citizens about good governance.
“Your advocacy, project facilitation to rural dwellers, agility in following Kwara Money, and ensuring that it works for all can never be underrated, and I urge you all to keep it up.
“Though the support our Foundation is rendering to ENetSuD might be little, we are certain that it will bring succor to the communities across Kwara State.
“Our partnership with ENetSuD on the CEMP activities will bring about social change, create an avenue to do more for the people, produce working documents to aid governmental policies and stakeholders’ interventions.”
He said the partnership would also facilitate international donors to ENetSuD to strengthen its activities.
On her part, ENetSuD Ag. Director of Community Services, whose Directorate oversees the CEMP activities, Fatima Bintu Dikko, appreciated GOF for finding the CSO worthy of such a huge intervention while assuring that the team would do all its possible to make the collaboration successful.
She also said the kind gesture and intervention were coming at a time when many communities needed support most.
Dikko narrated how the team, with little or no resources, had been able to facilitate basic amenities like water to localities like Aroyehun, Banigbe, Keremi, Amolegbe, among others, through the help of philanthropists in Kwara .
“With the huge support coming from GOF, our CEMP activities will reach all the 193 wards in Kwara State,” she assured.
The Chairman of ENetSuD App Committee, Saeed Tijjani, highlighted grey areas on how the CSO was doing its best to digitalise activities from inception of its first Mobile App.
The App according to him, will enable citizens to facilitate projects to their localities, raise advocacy and petitions and as well enable them to connect to their representatives.
“We’re going to make it part of our duty to train the citizens across the 193 wards in Kwara State on how to use the App,” he added.
ENetSuD Deputy Coordinator, Mr Lanre Osho, lauded the gestures displayed by the GOF.
He said the Founder of GOF had always been there for ENetSuD, especially in the aspect of continued sponsorship of its Programme on Sobi FM 101.9 that had been ongoing since February 2020.
He appreciated the Foundation’s gesture to ENetSuD and prayed to God to increase the capacity of the Founder to keep doing more good things for the people.
The ENetSuD’s Director of Finance, Rasheed Okunlola, assured GOF that the team would use the funds effectively and for the its purpose, with proper documentation and accountability.
He said a detailed record of how the grant would be spent shall be audited, as already being done since 2018, and published, in addition to availing GOF of the report.
The event was attended by Mr Gambari Volvo (ENetSuD), Ag. Director of Investigation and Public Petition, Kwara Central and Mr. Abdulrazaq Olayemi, ENetSuD Monitoring Officer, Moro LGA.
