Date: 2021-06-09

As part of its effort to further improve the quality of school monitoring and School evaluation across the State, the Kwara State government through the Universal Basic Universal Basic Education Board in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education commission has distributed forty Ipads to the Quality Assurance Officers in the State.

This was disclosed today by the Executive Chairman kwara State Universal Basic Education Board, Professor Shehu Raheem Adaramaja during a two-day training workshop organised for the Quality Assurance Department on the current trends in whole school evaluation for effectiveness and efficiency.

Professor Adaramaja said the importance of the training workshop cannot be overemphasized, describing it as a complete paradigm shift from the manual reporting of school evaluation to the use of electronic evaluation reporting through the use of computer devices in line with global best practices.

Adaramaja added that the shift becomes imperative because school monitoring and evaluation need to be reported accurately and promptly. He expressed the hope that the training will enhance productivity and efficiency as it will checkmate Officers who indulge in cutting corners without getting to their assigned schools.

The SUBEB boss stressed that this giant step has made it possible for the state to key into modern reporting of what goes on in schools with a view to taking the right decision for school development.

He further stressed that kwara state is one of the few states that paid for additional number of personal computer tablets so as to train and equip its Officers for the electronic quality Assurance.

Professor Adaramaja however commended the Executive Governor of the state, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and the UBEC for their financial commitments to the capacity training as well as the National Space Research and Development Agency(NASRDA) for coming down to kwara state to facilitate the workshop.

In his own contribution, the Director General of National Space Research and Development Agency( NASRDA), Dr Hamilu Ahmed Shaba said the training is focused on capacity building for the staff of SUBEB with the development of skills and capacity in the application of space technology and GPS for project quality assurance as well as geospatial intellgence activities taking place at a project or at a location.

Dr.Shaba emphasized that electronic quality assurance (e- quality Assurance) is fast, verifiable, accurate and available on digital devices that simplifies data collection. He added that the new system allows automatic processing of information and minimises possibilities of human errors.

He also used the opportunity to appreciate the Executive Chairman of KWSUBEB and his Management staff for making this relationship a successful reality to ensure that KWSUBEB operates a 21st century operational mechanism that is space technology compliance.
