KWASU VC Flags off N114m Solar Energy Equipment Installation

Professor Muhammad Mustapha Akanbi SAN on assumption of office as the Vice Chancellor of Kwara State University pledged to ensure adequate and sustainable power supply on campus.

Professor Akanbi on a march to achieving constant electric supply for the institution, flagged off the installation of a 114 million Naira worth of solar power system equipments.

While flagging of the installation of the equipments on the 19th of April 2021, the Vice Chancellor said improved electricity supply will not only aid KWASU in achieveing its mandates of teaching, research and community development, but also guarantee security of lives and property on campus.

According to him, on completion of the installation of the solar energy equipment KWASU solar farm will generate an additional 300kW of electricity. This he said, will be a match to the 300kW of electrical energy which the farm is currently generating.

The University Helms Man commended the Director and Staff of the Center for Sustainable Energy, saying that "despite being one of the youngest centers in the University," they had done the institution proud by executing the lofty project. Professor Akanbi charged other directorates to renew their efforts in seeking for innovative solutions to challenges facing the University.

The Director of Center for Sustainable Energy, Professor Kajogbola Ajao on his part pointed out that the solar equipments which were realised through the efforts of a staff of the Center, Mr. Teslim Balogun, was donated by the Government of The Republic of Lithuania.

He noted that the solar panels will boost the power generation from the solar farm from its present 300kW capacity to 600kW .
