Kwara Assembly Passes 2020 Budget, Increases It N427m

Date: 2020-01-30

Kwara State House of Assembly has approved N162,487,666,170 as the 2020 Fiscal Appropriation for the state.

This is against the sum of N162, 060,661,985 presented to the House on 18th December, 2019 by the state governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq as the 2020 Appropriation Bill.

The increase of N427,004,185, represents an increase of 0.26 per cent.

The Speaker of the House, Hon. Yakubu Danladi Salihu said that 55.06 per cent of the budget is for capital expenditure to drive infrastructural development of the state.

He said the 2020 budget would ensure paradigm shift from the old order and pledged that the House would provide periodic legislative oversight functions on the 2020 budget implementation.

He directed the Ministry of Finance and Planning to ensure that the monthly allocation to Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government are released in line with the approved 2020 budget.

"Contravening this directive has greater consequence in law and will not be treated with glove hands," the speaker warned.
