ACN's Reception of New Party Members: PDP Lacks Capacity to Deliver - Lai Mohammed

Date: 2012-09-16

The national publicity secretary of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) Alhaji Lai Mohammed yesterday said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led government lacked the capability to deliver dividends of democracy to Nigerians.

Mohammed said this in Ilorin, Kwara State capital at a reception programme organized in honour of former members of the PDP, the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN) and Accord Party (AP) who decamped to the ACN.

He said PDP government’s ineptitude had resulted in the alarming rate of youth unemployment, epileptic power supply and general infrastructural decay.

Lamenting what he called lack of development and dearth of infrastructure in Kwara State, Mohammed said the PDP led government in the state was in no way different from the PDP government at the centre.

ACN spokesperson also stated that the PDP government had failed Nigerians, saying the party’s spirited effort to defend Dr Doyin Okupe over allegation of contract scandal levelled against him by the Benue State government is an aberration.

On the controversy over the health status of Dame Patience Jonathan, he said Nigerians deserved to know the exact situation of the first lady.

In his remarks, the ACN gubernatorial candidate in the state in the 2011 general elections Mohammed Dele Belgore, SAN, advised Kwaran people to stop "suffering in silence" by teaming up with the ACN to sweep PDP away in the next elections.

Belgore said the ACN remained the only viable alternative to the PDP, adding that his party genuinely has the interest of the masses at heart.
