Belgore wraps Kwara tour, laughs off 'withdrawal claims'

Date: 2018-10-01

Kwara All Progressive Congress (APC) leading governorship aspirant Muhammad Dele Belgore (SAN) at the weekend toured seven local governments of the state talking to party stakeholders ahead of the governorship primaries.

He had spent the last three weeks touring the states to speak to APC stakeholders and community leaders on his aspiration.

A statement from his media office said Belgore wrapped the tour of the state on Sunday with a visit to Kaiama, having earlier visited other local governments of the Kwara North senatorial district.

The statement also quoted him as dismissing the claims on social media that he has withdrawn or been screened out of the governorship race.

"We don't want to dignify the rumor on social media. It is a mere distraction. We are used to such antics at this critical time. What they simply mean is that our opponents are jittery. Cowards die many times before their death," the statement quoted Belgore as saying.

"We are in this race to win. How can somebody who has withdrawn from the race still be going from local government to local government to speak to our people? Our people should ignore the panicky conduct of our opponents. The truth will soon be out. However, that document was an act of pure forgery since no such thing came from the party. We call on the party to investigate the source of the document and make the culprits face the full weight of the law. This was a clear act of desperation"

APC governorship primaries was held across many states of the country on Sunday but the date has not been fixed for the exercise in Kwara.
