2019: I'll prioritise education if elected Kwara Gov, says Saliu Mustapha

Date: 2018-09-03

A former Deputy National Chairman of the defunct Congress of Progressive Change (CPC), Mallam Saliu Mustapha, has said that he would partner with all meaning people in the state to see how the state can be fixed if voted as the state governor.

He spoke to Journalists at the weekend at the Ilorin International Airport.

The governorship aspirant however said his administration would reposition the state and focus on education sector for the citizens to be properly informed and enlightened.

Mustapha expressed optimism that the APC would emerge victorious in the forthcoming elections, saying that "If we all put hands on deck and we are to cooperate to build a political party, there is nothing stopping APC from making it".

"For me, I intend to partner with all well meaning Kwarans in seeing how we can fix the state, and in that line I intend to partner with others to run for the gubernatorial ticket of the state under APC.

"Like I said, we want to partner with all well meaning Kwarans, because this project is a project for all hands to be on deck. For me, I think first and foremost, we must try to re-position and fix the state, and we must start from our educational angle for people to be well informed, enlightened to know the negative and positive things that should push the state forward. And for me, one of my core areas of interest will be education and reorientation and enlightening our people so that they can know what serves them better", he said.

On the permanent voter's card, the APC governorship aspirant urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to extend the duration of continuous voter registration to enable many Nigerians partake in the general elections.

"Ideally, PVC registration should not close, because every hour, everyday somebody turns 18; somebody turns 18 to become an adult to vote. But because of circumstances and sometimes the peculiarity of what we find in this part of the world, that is why you want to put an end to it so that you can be able to manage what you have.

For me, I think we should also encourage our people not to sit down until the year is closing everybody will be coming out. We should please encourage them to come out and register so that they can be able to exercise their mandate", Mustapha said.
