A nursing mother Favour Ubah, who allegedly stabbed a neighbour with a knife, has been remanded at the Federal Prison, Oke-Kura Ilorin.
The order to remand the 26 year old accused of Saboline Isale, Opomalu Ilorin, was made by an Ilorin Magistrate Court before which she appeared on one count charge of causing grievous hurt, contrary to section 248 of penal code.
The victim, Evelyn Rowland of Saboline Isale, Opalu Ilorin, had on August 28 reported the matter at 'C' Division Police Station, Oja-Oba Ilorin that while two of her neighbour, Bello Aishat and Favour Ubah (accused) were quarrelling she made effort to resolve the dispute between them and in the process, the accused took a knife and stabbed her on the head and the back.
According to the police First Information Report (FIR) on the matter, as a result of the stab, the victim sustained a deep cut and was rushed to Temitope Specialist Hospital, Ilorin where she is presently on admission.
The prosecutor objected to the bail of the accused person and urged the court to remand the accused at the prison custody, Ilorin pending the outcome of the investigation.
The prosecutor subjected further that the alleged offence was not ordinarily bailable and that if the accused is released on bail, she would jump bail having realized the gravity of the offence.
The defense counsel, Barrister A.M. Bature, prayed the court to admit the accused to bail pending trial, just as he also urged the court to consider that the accused is a nursing mother and not to suffer the three months old baby in the prison.
