Kwara State Government seeks collaboration on succour for victims of natural disaster
The Kwara State Government has stressed the need for effective collaboration among the three tiers of government and wealthy Nigerians in providing succour to the victims of flood disaster in the state.
The Special Adviser to Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed on Emergency and Relief Services, Hon Abdullahi Duro Mohammed, stated this in Fangan, Moro Local Government Area of the State during his sympathy visit to the flood victims in the area.
According to him, the state government has embarked on awareness campaign to the people living around flood prone areas and river banks within and outside the state capital to ensure safety of lives and property of the citizenry. He however sympathized with the people of Fangan community over the recent flooding which had submerged their farmlands and urged them to take the disaster as an act of God.
Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the governor on Environment, Alhaji Manzuma Abdulmalik expressed dismay over the incident and acknowledged the quick alertness by the victims to the authority concerned and promised that state government would look in to it soon.
In his address, the chairman, Moro local government area of the state, Alhaji Abdulganiyu Ajibola, who was represented by the council's secretary Alhaji Mohammed Suleiman, reaffirmed the council's commitment towards ensuring relief materials get to the victims as soon as the distribution of materials commenced.
