Hajj Stampede: 7 Kwara Pilgrims Dead, 7 Injured

The Kwara Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board yesterday confirmed that seven pilgrims from the state died during the Munna stampede in the just concluded Hajj operation in Saudi Arabia.

The Executive Secretary of the Board, Hajia Fatima Abolore-Jimoh disclosed this in in llorin,the state capital .

"Seven pilgrims from the state have been confirmed dead, seven are missing and two are in the hospital receiving treatment", Abolore-Jimoh said.

She said that the National Hajj Commission (NAHCON) has been contacted on the missing Pilgrims while the board has also solicited the assistance of indigines of the state schooling in Saudi Arabia on the missing Pilgrims.

She said the board will soon pay condolence visits to the relations of the deceased pilgrims.

The Executive Secretary disclosed that no Kwara pilgrim was involved in the crane incident in Haram, Makkah.

She said the board recorded only one natural death of an 80 years old woman who died in hospital due to illness.
