Retrogressive politics'll soon end in Kwara - Oyedepo
The Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party, Kwara State, Mr. Iyiola Oyedepo, has said that the state will soon witness a new dawn in governance.
Claiming that there is retrogressive politics and governance currently in the state, he said such would soon come to an end.
He spoke during the party's retreat in Ilorin on Saturday.
"Let me direct your minds to the signs that the end of retrogressive politics in Kwara State is in sight. When you see a garrulous and arrogant leader, who in his heyday will not shake hands with subordinates but is humbled by imminent defeat to felicitate with the previously despised, it is the sign of the end on sight.
"When you observe that a government is trying to deceitfully give scholarship, increase workers' wages, give farmers lifeline, among others, at the twilight of the administration, you should know that the end is near.
"When a governance is reduced to billboards and bogus claims, you should know that the end of the regime is at the corner," Oyedepo said.
Also, the Kwara State Chairman, Labour Party, Mr. Adekunle Babalola, during the state congress of the LP called for the resolution of outstanding labour issues, especially non-implementation of minimum wage by some state governments and other industrial disputes in the interest of industrial harmony and socio-economic development of the country.
He also frowned on the ongoing nationwide strike by the Nigeria Medical Association.
He called on President Goodluck Jonathan to address all outstanding issues in the nation's health sector, which he noted, had constituted a great danger to the well-being of the people.
Babalola said, "The congress also frowned on the bad state of roads across the country, with the attendant loss of lives and carnages. We call on the President and the governors to fix these roads without further delay.
"The congress lauded the doggedness and consistent struggle of the labour movement in Nigeria towards improved working conditions for workers, the party pledge continuous solidarity with the working class struggle and support for all agitations leading to the socio-economic and political transformation of the country."
