The Leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara state has received with mixed feelings, the obviously ill-advised defection of Messrs Dele Belgore from his former Party to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Much as we agree that Mr. Dele Belgore reserves the right to pick and choose which political platform fancies his over-bloated ego, we assert, with all sense of responsibility that the critical mass of the APC in Kwara state will not miss him for a moment. At best, his defection, after so many weeks of pussy-footing, is but a great relief to the leadership of the Party in the state and of course at the national levels, which out of thoughtful political camaraderie, have accorded Mr. Belgore all manners of concessions and leeway, with the hope that he would be rescued from the path of political perdition, humiliation and uncertainty of which he has unfortunately been goaded into by a few power mongers around him.

Over the years, Mr. Belgore and his spin doctors have been overrating his political worth. The event of today has evidently brought to the fore, his true, untainted worth as a greenhorn politician that lacks any real political value. If Messrs Belgore did not himself realise this going by the unimpressive outing he had today, when less than 150 rented crowd gathered at his campaign office for his declaration, then it will be safe to say that he is only living in a fool's paradise. The Kwara APC is therefore consoled by the fact that the whole world today watched the demystification of the political hype that has over the years been dubiously built around Mr. Belgore.

We are even happier that the show of his real worth happened right under Mr. his very nose, the face-saving statements that he would organise another 'declaration' notwithstanding. There is no amount of spinning and image laundering that could erase this bitter truth from the minds of well-meaning Kwarans who have been hitherto hoodwinked into believing that he possesses any enviable political .
