THE Chairman, Kwara State Traditional Council and the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has approved the establishment of Shehu Alimi Islamic Foundation.

The foundation has the mandate of propagating Islamic education and supervising the welfare of the less privileged in the Ilorin Emirate and the country at large.

The monarch said the foundation was meant to maintain peace in the emirate and beyond.

According to him, “Ilorin is known as a citadel of learning for all and sundry and there is the need to guide this precious attribute jealously.”

Alhaji Sulu-Gambari, while receiving the 11-man committee in charge of the foundation, led by Dr Abdulkadir Oba-Sholagberu, at his palace, urged the group to facilitate the building of an Islamic centre, mosque, schools among others, in Kuo village, in memory of the late Shehu Alimi.

The traditional ruler endorsed the immediate appointment of Dr Oba-Sholagberu as the executive national chairman of the foundation; Alhaji Hussein Akewushola, national missioner, while he announced himself as the grand patron.

Other members of the foundation are Hon. Abdulwahab Issa, Alhaji Luqman Mustapha, Alhaji Modibbo Sulu-Gambari, Alhaji Toyin Busari and Mallam AbdulAzeez Arowona.

Others are Mallam Hassan Bibire, Mallam Nurudeen Zubair, Alhaji AbdulRafiu Asalejo, Mallam Abdulkadir Salman and Mallam Qasim Abolaji.

Alhaji Sulu-Gambari prayed God to help the members in the execution of the projects before them.
