Kwara govt shuts 25 illegal Schools

Kwara Government said on Monday that it shut down 25 Private Schools across the three senatorial districts of the state for operating illegally.

The state Commissioner for Information and Communication, Alhaji Mahmud Ajeigbe, disclosed this while speaking with newsmen, in llorin.

He said some of the affected schools which were mainly primary and secondary schools failed to satisfy conditions laid down for the establishment of schools.

The commissioner added that some of the closed schools, especially those located in the rural communities, were operating in unsuitable learning environment.

Ajeigbe said the state government took the action to ensure that quality and qualitative education was not compromised.

The commissioner said the state government was currently embarking on screening for all schools in the state to fish out those violating the laws that established them.

“Several of the closed schools did not seek for approval of the government and they are operating under unhygienic environment,” Ajeigbe said.

One of the affected schools, according to the list issued by the state Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development on Monday are, Able God Nursery and Primary School Lanwa in Moro Local Government area.

Others are: Hanivill College in Ilorin, Ali-Azeem Nursery and Primary School, Baruteen Local Government Area of the state.

The rest are: Nuru Islam Model School Kaima and Onaolapo Academy School, Ijagbo in Oyun Local Government Area of the state among others.
