Polls Postponement: PDP afraid of defeat - Atunwa
The Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly Mr Razak Atunwa has said that the President Goodluck Jonathan- led administration came up with the postponement of the polls through the back door because the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, was afraid of defeat.
Speaking in Alapa, while addressing farmers in Owode-Onire Constituency, Atunwa recalled that the National Security Adviser, NSA, Col. Sambo Dasuki had earlier called for the postponement of the elections in London, stressing that INEC was just intimidated by what he described as the security operatives to postpone the elections.
He urged Nigerians to vote for the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the general elections in spite of the antics of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to restore sanity in the country.
Atunwa who also urged Nigerians to be consistent and steadfast in the face of intimidation and provocation to ensure the resolution of the numerous problems confronting the nation, praised farmers in the area for their sacrifice and tolerance, stressing that the rift between the farmers and the Fulani herdsmen would soon be totally resolved by the state government.
He assured that he would continue to be committed to their well being, and praised the state government, the state House of Assembly and Asa Local Government Area for their prompt response in restoring peace in the area, saying that there was the need for peaceful coexistence between the farmers and the Fulani herdsmen to pave way for more meaningful development of the area.
Chairman of Asa Local Government Area, Alhaji Salman Obalana explained the role played by his council in ensuring peaceful coexistence in the area, adding that it would continue to be committed to the well being of the people of the area.
