Saraki - Asa Dam Channelisation Will Boost Economic Devt
The Senator representing Kwara Central Senatorial district in the National Assembly, Senator Bukola Saraki, has said the channelisation of Asa Dam River in Ilorin, by the federal government would boost economic activities to the people of the area.
Saraki, who stated this in Ilorin, at the weekend, while fielding questions from journalists shortly after attending a meeting organised by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in his ward in Ajikobi-Okekere area of Ilorin West Local Government area, said the channelisation would also put an end to the perennial loss of life in the area during rainy season.
According to him, "since the contractor has moved to site in no distance time the project will be completed."
He said irrigation activities would open up the area where the dam is located and the people would have the opportunity to farm all year out.
He explained that if the irrigation facilities, after being provided are put to proper use, it would help in improving food production in the area.
Saraki, who was the immediate past governor of the state, urged the contractor handling the project to ensure its completion within the budgeted period given.
The senator also appealed to the people of the area to ensure they make good use of the facilities when provided by guiding them jealously.
On the ward meeting, Saraki said the meeting was part of the routine activities of the party.
He said the meeting would also avail members of the party the opportunity to discuss issues affecting their various communities.
Saraki, therefore, called on the members of the party to continue to be loyal and work together towards the development of ruling PDP in the state.
