Ahead of the 2027 Kwara State governorship election, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has appointed veteran journalist and politician Mas'ud Adebimpe as the Director-General of the Governorship Campaign Council for its candidate, Hon. Zakari Mohammed.

The appointments form part of measures to structure the party's campaign organization, coordinate voter mobilization, and expand its footprint across all 16 local government areas and three senatorial districts in Kwara State.

The party also named Gabriel Olatunji Kannajogun as the Secretary of the Campaign Council.

The operational structure was unveiled on Thursday in a statement issued by the ADC Kwara State Secretary, Ibrahim Alege, following approval by the governorship candidate.

According to the statement, Adebimpe brings decades of media management and public service experience to the leadership of the campaign team.

For the senatorial districts, the party designated regional leaders to manage campaign activities:

Kwara Central: Alhaji Isa Nuhu Funsho (Deputy Director-General)
Kwara South: Elder Adebayo Adetoro (Deputy Director-General)
Kwara North: Hon. Abdullahi Abubakar Mohammed, popularly known as "Daddy Bob" (Deputy Director-General)
Alhaja Muyibat Tanwa Shittu was appointed Deputy Director-General in charge of Mobilization.

The campaign structure incorporates an Advisory Organ consisting of the Council of Elders alongside the State Chairman of the ADC to provide strategic guidance, political counsel, and policy alignment.

Outlining its grassroots strategy, the party announced plans to establish a network spanning senatorial, local government, and ward coordinators, supported by 10 dedicated canvassers per ward and polling unit executive committees to drive voter engagement.

In his remarks, Zakari Mohammed urged all appointees and party supporters to demonstrate unity and discipline, noting that the campaign will run on the platform's Mai Jama'a - Fresh Thinking agenda focused on inclusive governance and sustainable development.
