The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kwara State Command, has deployed no fewer than 700 personnel for its 2026 Easter Special Patrol aimed at ensuring safety and free flow of traffic across the state.
The Sector Commander, Corps Commander Muftau A. Irekeola, disclosed this in a statement issued by the Sector Public Education Officer, CRS Olayinka Basambo that the deployment includes 150 Special Marshals and 100 First Responders to enhance visibility, facilitate prompt removal of road obstructions, and ensure ease of movement during the festive period.
According to him, the operation, which runs from 1st April to 8th April 2026, is in line with the corps' nationwide Easter patrol directive.
Irekeola explained that the exercise is designed to prevent road traffic crashes, reduce fatalities and injuries, provide timely response to accident victims, and ensure swift clearance of obstructions on highways.
He added that the command would also intensify public enlightenment campaigns to educate motorists on safe driving practices, whilst maintaining sustained patrols and close monitoring of all major routes leading into Kwara State.
The Sector Commander noted that operatives would pay particular attention to common traffic violations such as excessive speeding, tyre offences, dangerous driving and overtaking, lane indiscipline, road obstruction, use of mobile phones whilst driving, overloading, and mixed loading.
He assured residents and road users of the FRSC's commitment to safer roads, urging motorists to cooperate with officers and adhere strictly to traffic regulations.
