300 Kwara Students Benefit as MOK Foundation Increases Scholarship Slots by 50 Per Cent
The Muhydeen Okunlola Kayode (MOK) Foundation has awarded its annual WAEC scholarship to 300 secondary school students across the three senatorial districts of Kwara State. This figure represents a significant 50 per cent increase in the number of beneficiaries compared to the previous edition of the scheme.
The scholarship distribution ceremony was held at the Offa Grammar School Auditorium, Offa, where students drawn from various public secondary schools across the state received support to cover their WAEC examination fees.
Speaking at the event, the Director of the Foundation, Mr Saheed Lawal, stated that the increase reflects the organisation's growing commitment to education and youth development in Kwara. He noted: "When this journey began in 2024, we supported 130 students. In 2025, the number increased to 200, and today, 300 students across Kwara State are benefiting from this initiative."
Lawal added that the steady growth of the programme underscores the vision of the foundation's founder, Alhaji Muhydeen Okunlola Kayode, to ensure that financial challenges do not deny any child access to education. He remarked: "Beyond the numbers, today is about hope, encouragement, and giving students the confidence to dream bigger. Education remains the strongest tool for change, and this is our way of investing in the future of our young people."
The 2026 WAEC Scholarship programme, themed "Continuing the Journey, Lighting the Path to Brighter Futures," is part of the foundation's broader educational intervention targeted at underprivileged students in the state.
Delivering a lecture at the event, Mr Aderemi Oladepo, Director of Weakypedia Linchpin Consult and Educational Services, commended the founder for his sustained investment in education, urging the beneficiaries to remain focused and disciplined in their studies.
Also speaking, Dr Azeez Yisa, the proprietor of Lens Polytechnic and Lens University, represented by Akeem Dunmoye, urged the beneficiaries to justify the gesture by excelling in their examinations. He thanked Alhaji Kayode for his unwavering commitment to supporting students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Parents, teachers, and guardians present at the event described the founder of the MOK Foundation as a visionary community leader, praising the consistency and impact of the scholarship programme. The MOK Foundation WAEC Scholarship is an annual initiative designed to promote access to education, encourage academic excellence, and ensure that no willing student in Kwara State is left behind due to financial limitations.
