NILDS DG Professor Sulaiman Mourns Major General Abdullahi Mohammed (Rtd)
The Director General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), Professor Abubakar Olanrewaju Sulaiman, has received with a profound sense of loss the news of the death of Major General Abdullahi Mohammed (Rtd).
This was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, by his Media Adviser, Mohammad Abdulkadri.
According to Professor Sulaiman, "The death of the Ex-Chief of Staff to two Nigerian former Presidents, Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, and late Umaru Musa Yar'adua, GCFR, represents a dark chapter in the annals of the Nation and a monumental loss to Kwara State and Ilorin Emirate in particular."
He eulogized the distinguished Military Career and the inspirationally impactful post-retirement services rendered by the late General, noting his roles as the Former Military Governor of Benue and Plateau States and the Pioneer Director General of the National Security Organisation (NSO). He stated that these services are: "testament to a life rooted in patriotism, excellence, resilience, and Integrity."
While noting that the death of the founder of the defunct Atoto Press Ltd Ilorin and former National Security Adviser (NSA) to the former Nigerian Military Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar, GCFR, has created a big leadership gap, the NILDS DG said Nigeria has lost a legendary Soldier, a revered Kwaran, and an illustrious son of the Emirate.
The former Minister of National Planning commiserated with the Kwara State Governor, Mallam Abdul-Rahman Abdul-Rasak, CON, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Silu-Gambari, CFR, the Military, the family, and the people of Ilorin Emirate.
He prayed to Almighty Allah to accept the return of the Late General Abdullah Mohammed Rtd, into the finest abode in Al- jannat fridaus and grant his loved ones profound courage to navigate the difficult times caused by his death.
