Governor AbdulRazaq Vows to Uphold Sardauna Ahmadu Bello's Legacy of Unity and Development
Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has reaffirmed his commitment to advancing the ideals of the late Premier of Northern Nigeria and Sardauna of Sokoto, Sir Ahmadu Bello, describing him as a visionary leader whose legacy continues to inspire transformative governance.
Speaking during a courtesy visit by the executives of the Gamji Members Association (GAMA) at Ahmadu Bello House, GRA, Ilorin, the Governor praised Sir Ahmadu Bello for championing unity, education, integrity, and economic empowerment across the North.
He highlighted how the Sardauna dedicated his life to strengthening Northern Nigeria through the promotion of both Islamic and Western education, fostering religious and cultural tolerance, and driving growth through agriculture and industrial development.
Governor AbdulRazaq, who holds the chieftaincy title of Sardauna of Ilorin, said the late leader's legacy of selfless service, honesty, and dedication to public welfare remains a guiding light for leaders today.
He commended GAMA for sustaining the Gamji spirit of loyalty, excellence, and service, urging members to continue their impactful work without complacency.
The meeting underscored the enduring influence of Sir Ahmadu Bello's leadership philosophy in contemporary Kwara politics and regional development.
" It's important for us to continue to propagate what the late Sardauna of Sokoto stood for. We should channel our energy and resources towards developmental issues just like the Sardauna did while he was alive. I aso want to urge the GAMA leadership to set up a youth wing of the association to ensure continuity," the Governor said.
Governor AbdulRazaq assured his visitors of his continued support for GAMA and its programmes. Rapid Growth
The Governor also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his innovative economic reforms and transformative programmes, noting that "all the states of the federation are witnessing rapid growth and development in the current dispensation as a result of the effectiveness of the economic reforms."
"There are monumental developments across the states of the federation. States are now able to pay full salaries as and when due. Even the local governments are now executing road projects, " he said.
On the issue of insecurity in parts of the state, Governor AbdulRazaq said: "The security challenge is a passing thing. It will come to pass soon. All hands are on deck to make our state safe and move it forward. The planned recruitment of additional forest guards is to ensure that criminal elements do not take over the ungoverned spaces in parts of the state."
Highlighting the importance of the ongoing voters' registration exercise, the Governor urged GAMA members and other stakeholders to encourage the people of the state to take the exercise seriously.
The President General of GAMA, Alhaji Tunde Akanbi, had informed the Governor that members of the association passed a vote of confidence on him during their meeting held recently .
Akanbi said "the group passed a vote of confidence in the Governor in appreciation of his exemplary leadership's style which conformed with the ideals of the late Sardauna of Sokoto."
Describing the ongoing development projects in the state as unprecedented, Akanbi noted that the projects cut across infrastructure, education, health sectors, amongst others.
While pouring encomium on the Governor, Akanbi said: "Your Excellency fits perfectly into the title of Sardauna of Ilorin, conferred on you by the Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari. The renaming of Kwara State Government House as Ahmadu Bello House is a testament to your belief in the ideals of the late Sir Ahmadu Bello."
He also recalled the invaluable contributions of the late AGF AbdulRazaq (SAN) to GAMJI, saying that:" The late AGF took GAMJI as his baby and nurtured it till the time of his death".
He assured the Governor of the continued support of the members of the association for his administration's polices and programme.
