Kwara State Government Reaffirms Support for National Orientation Agency
The Kwara State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the National Orientation Agency (NOA), underscoring the importance of its role in driving value reorientation and civic education across the state.
Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Jibril Saba, made the pledge during a meeting with the agency's management at his office in Ilorin.
He emphasised that the NOA's contributions in civic education, public enlightenment, value reorientation, and social mobilisation are indispensable to national development.
Prof. Saba stressed that sub-national governments have a responsibility to support the agency's activities to ensure maximum impact on societal values and public behaviour.
The NOA delegation expressed appreciation for the government's continued partnership and reaffirmed its dedication to promoting positive change in Kwara.
According to him, "We are in an era where a lot of things are going wrong in our society, ranging from criminality to drug abuse, thuggery, and other antisocial behaviours, which are rampant, especially among the youths."
The SSG noted that some of these crimes require the intervention of agencies like NOA for them to be nipped in the bud. He assured the agency of the state government's commitment to its operations.
Earlier in his address, the Director of the National Orientation Agency NOA Kwara State Directorate, Alhaji Abdulganiyu Dare, commended the state government for its infrastructural development across various sectors.
He appealed for more assistance from the state government to enable the agency to confront societal challenges that require intervention almost on a daily basis.
