Former Deputy Chief of Staff Hon. Gbenga Makanjuola, Quits PDP
According to a news report from This Day, the political scene in Kwara State experiences a notable alteration with Honourable Gbenga Makanjuola, once the deputy chief of staff to the former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, stepping down from his affiliations with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Makanjuola, who had represented the state's constituents in the House of Representatives from 2003 to 2011, penned a letter resigning from the party on the 30th of July, 2024.
This document, which bears Makanjuola's signature, was distributed to THISDAY in Ilorin, the state capital. The missive was addressed to the PDP chairperson in his Omu-Aran Ward 1, Irepodun Local Government Area, and was also copied to the local government and state chairpersons of the party.
In the backdrop of this resignation, the Federal High Court in Abuja recently witnessed a turning point in Makanjuola and Kolawole Shittu's legal predicaments, as they were acquitted of the N3.5 billion fraud allegations tied to their association with Dr. Saraki.
This legal development casts a shadow over Hon. Makanjuola's recent political departure.
