Uninterrupted Power: How KWASU community development team transformed Faculty of Engineering staff room
In a remarkable initiative led by a dedicated team of academic staff, the Kwara State University (KWASU) has witnessed a significant transformation in the Faculty of Engineering's staff room.
This project, tagged “Renewable Energy Intervention for KWASU Community,” was said to have aimed at providing uninterrupted power supply to the faculty's staff common room and relaxation area, creating conducive spaces for research, relaxation, and informal gatherings.
The project, completed under the umbrella of KWASU's community development platform, introduced a renewable energy system that ensures a constant power supply.
This ambitious project eliminates concerns about energy disruptions and empowers staff to focus on their work without interruptions.
On November 2, 2023, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, officially inaugurated the facility.
He commended the 30-member team responsible for the project, emphasizing the importance of thinking beyond individual roles to improve both the academic community and personal workspaces.
Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh highlighted the potential of this initiative to enhance staff productivity, particularly within the Faculty of Engineering.
While the relaxation room is yet to be furnished, the Acting Vice-Chancellor pledged the University's support for its completion.
Furthermore, he expressed his commitment to replicating similar facilities across other faculties within KWASU.
Dr. Samson Odeyemi, the project coordinator, previously emphasized the project's dedication to making a positive impact on the academic community.
He added that the successful transformation of the staff room not only benefits KWASU's Faculty of Engineering but sets an inspiring example for future community development initiatives.
