Date: 2021-08-29

Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State, has called for the change of Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies to Michael Imoudu University of Labour Studies.

He made the call when the Minister of state for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, SAN, visited him at the Government House in Ilorin.

Governor Abdulrazaq told Keyamo who was accompanied on the visit by veteran labour leaders, Hassan Summonu, Ovie Kokori and the D-G of the Imoudu labour Institute, Comrade Isah Aremu, that, the institute has the infrastructure to cope as a university.

"Most of the new universities we have today, don't have the infrastructure in that institute. It will be one of your achievements in office."

He stated further that, "most of our universities take years to put infrastructure in place but the institute has crossed those hurdles already. That is one legacy that we would gave achieved as a minister."

Governor Abdulrazaq thanked the Federal Government for situating the institute in Ilorin, the state capital despite being underutilized by the whole nation including Kwara State.

He,however, assured of changes and cooperation between the state government and the institute.

Keyamo had earlier described Governor Abdulrazaq as most labour friendly leader in the country in terms of labour relations.
