Cultism: Another kingpin, Adanri, shot dead in Ilorin

There was pandemonium in Sakama, Niger area of Ilorin, Kwara State on Sunday afternoon when suspected cultists unleashed terror in the community, killing a man in his early forties Wasiu Idris popularly known as Adanri of Ile Jato, Ikokoro street in the state capital.

The deceased, whom this medium gathered, was a top notch member of Aiye confraternity was said to have relocated to Saudi Arabia and only returned to Ilorin about 6 months ago. When National Pilot visited scene of the crime, the area was deserted as residents had scampered for their lives.

A family source, who didn't want his name in print for security reasons told our reporter that the deceased was murdered by four suspected cultists belonging to Eiye confraternity. Adanri was said to be relaxing at the veranda of his house when the gunmen struck shooting him at close range.

His assailants reported ensured that he was dead before leaving scene of the incident in a commando style. According to him, "the gunmen came into the area through Baboko axis around 3:46pm. After they had succeeded in their mission, they escaped through Edun axis and one of them wore face mask."

The remains of the deceased was said to have been evacuated by relatives for burial before arrival of the police from the 'C' Division, Oja-–Oba. When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ajayi Okasanmi, said he was yet to be briefed and promised to get back to our reporter.
