AD seeks probe of Kwara revenue agency

Date: 2016-02-10

The Alliance for Democracy (AD), Kwara State chapter, has asked the state government to probe activities of the state's internal Revenue Service (KIRS) from 1999 till 2015.

According to a communique issued by the party at the end of its recent meeting, the probe would be necessary to determine the exact amount generated by the agency during the period with a view to determining the role played by individuals that has led to the inability of the state government to now meet its statutory obligations.

The communique was signed by Alhaji Biliaminu Aliu and Mr. Michael Ologunde, state Chairman and Secretary respectively of the party.

Governor AbdulFattah Ahmed had on Monday while commissioning the Revenue House explained that his administration scrapped KIRS and replaced it with an autonomous body because the former was not meeting set targets and there were many leakages.v
