Kwara Government says no going back on N18,000 minimum wage
The Kwara state government says it will not tamper with the eighteen thousand minimum wage as planned by some state governors.
To this end, the state government has reiterated its commitment to the welfare of all civil servants in the state to ensure an effective workforce.
State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mahmud Babatunde Ajeigbe made the assertion on Thursday while speaking with VON correspondent in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital.
He also charged both federal and state governments to re-define their programmes and policies in order to meet the expectations of Nigerians. According to him, the clarification became necessary, considering the challenges facing the country, and insisted that the interest of Kwarans was the first priority of the Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed administration.
Ajeigbe, therefore, implored workers of the Kwara State Water Corporation to resume work for the benefit of the masses and expressed confidence that the state government would pay all their outstanding salaries as soon as other funds were released.
On other current issues in the state, the commissioner said the State Internal Revenue Service would ensure a convenient and transparent tax collection method to ensure that the appropriate revenue entered state government coffers. On security, the commissioner said that the state government would continue to partner with all security agencies.
He commiserated with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for losing one of their members to the fight against suspected vandals in Ilorin.
