Unilorin rates Gov Ahmed high...as Kwara partners institution on improved information
The University of Ilorin yesterday examined the performance of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State and returned with a verdict that "his administration has performed creditably well".
Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor AbdulGaniyu Ambali, who stated this while receiving the state Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr Mahmud Babatunde Ajeigbe, in his office, said the governor had proved his mettle to be a diplomatic science graduate.
Speaking through the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research, Training and Innovation (RTI), professor Gabriel Olatunji, noted that he had no cause to worry about the capacity of the governor to re-design the art of governance in the state.
He said the state chief executive has continued to exhibit his performance in accordance with the knowledge he acquired as an alumnus of the institution. "We appreciate the supportive role of the state government anytime we call on them. You will recall that the Chief Executive Officer of the state is an alumnus of this great institution. We are constantly praying for the success of this state government and after the second term, the next place is Aso-Rock", the Unilorin VC said.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Information and Communications had told the Unilorin management that his team was in the institution to use its medium to re-orientate the masses on the need to curb social ills.
Ajeigbe said the country was at the turning point where issues of the past had continued to the people.
He called for attitudinal change among the people in the ongoing efforts to instill discipline and social etiquette.
"We want to reach out through the mass media to re-orientate our people, redesign the society in such a way that people can begin to address the social ills collectively to get the desired change that we all sought.
"The University of Ilorin has over the years continued to produce first class students, and has continued to stand at the forefront of everything good", the Commissioner said.
