Driver jailed for stealing goat
An Ilorin Magistrate's Court last Wednesday sentenced a cab driver, Isa Akanbi, to one year imprisonment for stealing a goat belonging to one Ibirogba Sunday.
Akanbi was convicted on a one-count charge of theft, punishable under section 266 of the Penal Code.
The prosecutor, Insp. Adamu Isiaka, told the court that the accused had tied a rope around the goat's neck and had put it in his vehicle when he was arrested.
Isiaka said that the owner had cried for help, resulting in the arrest of Akanbi by some residents.
The accused, who pleaded guilty to the offence, was summarily sentenced.
Magistrate Ibrahim Dasuki sentenced the accused to one year imprisonment without an option of fine.
