2 Men Arraigned In Court For Snatching Bag In Ilorin
Ilorin Magistrate Court has remanded two persons at the Federal Prison, Oke-Kura in Ilorin, Kwara State, for allegedly snatching a bag at gunpoint.
The accused persons who are; Hammed Yusuf of No. 8, Agaka Area, Ilorin and Isiaka Amose of Itakure Area, Ilorin have appeared before the court on a two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and armed robbery.
The accused was arrested, following a complaint on October 2, 2014 to the Police by one Omolola Abdulsalam of No. 10, Kuntu Area, Ilorin, while she was on a motorbike going home after the day's business, her bag containing a sum of N173, 000 was snatched by the accused.
According to her, on getting to Agbooba Area, off Kuntu, Ilorin, four men armed with gun came on a red Bajaj motorcycle with registration number JB 467 XIY attacked and dispossessed her of her handbag containing money for the day's sales.
Luck ran against the accused when in a bid to escape they were arrested by the passersby, while the others, Ibrahim and Kayode escaped with the handbag containing the said money.
Police First Information Report (FIR) on the matter stated that the accused committed the offences which contradict Sections 6(B) and 1(2) of the Robbery and Firearm (Special Provision) Act Cap 11, Law of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004. Godwin Asua, the prosecutor, Inspector objected to the bail of the accused and urged the court to remand them in prison custody pending the outcome of investigation.
Magistrate J.B. Salihu acceded to the submission of the prosecutor and remanded the accused at the Federal Prison, Oke-Kura, Ilorin.
The court adjourned the case till November 3, 2014 for further mention.
