OPINION - Re: Between Gbemisola Saraki and Abubakar Baba Suleiman. By Abubakar Baba Sulaiman

First and foremost, I must thank my star for bringing me this 'close' to a friend I have fallen in love with his intelligence, one whom I have on several occasions have to share the same opinion with as if we both had previous physical preparatory session. I'm not so gullible at falling in love with something or somebody without further scrutiny, but anyone can win my heart with a mere dispense of admirable intelligence. Mr. Rotimi Atere seem to have "exposed' the reason behind my continuous stay on facebook despite such other incredible outrageous display of viral dullness from some other social media ranters.

I must confess, if people like Rotimi Atere are still in the forefront of the struggle, even if tomorrow comes, and we both find ourselves sitting on different mat of ideology, I wouldn't shiver in fear of continuation of misrule in the state. I think I'm more a huge fan of him than he is of me.

The likes of Oniyangi Kunle Sulaiman, Bello Bature, Akogun Oyedepo (the current Chairman of PDP), and few others have equally won my prizes of true comradeship.

In the same light, let me thank my friend, Mr. Gold who called my attention to the article in reference. I wouldn't have had the privilege to exchange pleasantries with Mr. Rotimi Atere, someone I have come to love his rare fearlessness and relentlessness in the pursuit of justice, equity, fairness in Nigeria and especially Kwara. I can't but start by disclosing the feelings expressed by this my friend who called my attention to the piece - he was confused and sad! The worry was all over him and I was wondering why he was so cold in fear of possible 'fisticuffs' between me and another person he also admires. In a rare show of love for the 'two sides', ostensibly referring to Senator Gbemi Saraki and I, he said "please I don't want you to quarrel with Gbemi, she is such a nice woman".

Initially, I didn't know what he was talking about because I can't remember if I have ever met Gbemi one on one, let alone quarreling with her. Not until I read the article he was referring to, written by Mr. Roimi Atere. I laughed profusely and thereafter told him.."No wahala, he (Atere) didn't mean to fight". I could feel the sigh of relief on him.

Having said this, let me spot out one germane point, I do not think Mr. Rotimi Atere's piece envisages or expects any rejoinder from me, he possibly merely expect me (in case of future similar situation) to read more deeply between the lines before I make submissions. I am also of the opinion, infering from the lettering, he is calling my attention to what he felt I hadn't done "right".

In fact, when I finished reading his article, I thought it's more like a personal letter to a friend from a friend; I guess except for the reason that he couldn't reach me personally, the 'rejoinder' couldn't have been suitable for the wall of any of the social media platform, not even my personal wall, assuming we are both mutual friends on Facebook and he can send in inbox messages. (Would you kindly avail me of your profile name on facebook, I will like to add you immediately, mine is ABUBAKAR BABA SULAIMAN).

If this is what his "rejoinder" to my earlier piece is all about, then I need not reply him by way of referring to it, justifying or defending whatever he has asserted in his writing, that may derail the subject matter.

However, you will pardon me if I have to post this on the wall of the same platform you used; I do not have you as a friend on facebook, so I think it will not be inappropriate if I use the same medium and I promise I will not post this on any other platform except also on my wall.

However, permit me also to make a few remarks. From the onset, I think I found the construction of the title even hilarious. It couldn't have been between Gbemi and I, as if we are both two apart; of course, we are not at logger heads and have no reasons to be so. I think the title connotes existence of a "difference" with the use of the word "between". Pardon me if I misunderstood you, my english isn't too good.

I must hint that this struggle for freedom and justice is to rescue our state from the economic saboteurs in the state, who will do anything and everything to continue to pound our mortal with their destructive pestle. The last time I checked, Gbemi is equally blowing the same whistle of freedom against these opportunists, so why would anyone imagine labelling? I know Mr. Atere Rotimi didn't think that way.

Again, let me reiterate that I do not intend to make this a rejoinder, consider it a personal letter to my friend, Atere. In that regard, while I do not accept the submission of "falling so cheaply for such manipulations by the 'internet rats", a deeper decipher of the entire message would have revealed that I'm expressing the minds of those who fear "deflation of the tyre of the freedom vehicle". I was probably "helping" her shrug off the stigma of "complicity" these rats are "trying" to hang on her shoulder.

Unavailability of official information they say gives room for rumours, wrongly or rightly, when such is peddled, 'undiscerning' minds who have one or two reasons to love you may be confused and as such contemplate meditation on your "credibility". Logically, actions and inactions may end up producing the same negative result if the otherwise was expected but wasn't done. I don't know if my friend is getting my point here.

Kwara Liberation Movement (KLM) was formed almost 'impulsively'. The basic principle for that formation was to champion the cause of good governance in the state. In the team of Administors is my brother and friend, Mr. Abdullateef Oloyin, a staunch admirer of Senator Gbemi's Political philosophy. The piece couldn't have been interpreted as creating a "prey" out of Senator Gbemisola Saraki and he (Oloyin) wouldn't have called my attention to my "error of judgement". I assume he understood the bottom intent of my message, which was calling her (Gbemi's) attention to the "plot of blackmail" and the need to making "necessary" corrections.

In buttressing the above, just few days back, I was about the first person to send her birthday greetings on Mr. Oloyin's wall. That should pass a message against any possible colouration of political subterfuge. If you read my last article on state of insecurity in the country, you would probably develop a different dimension of perception that I do not easily give in to blackmail nor cheap propaganda, except that which is accompanied by facts and which I will always love to say out, even if my best friend is the guilty one.

While I do not see Mr. Rotimi Atere's reply as one solicited for or done for or on behalf of her, I must acknowledge the fact that he has (as a concerned lover of peace and believer in freedom struggle) inadvertently done exactly what my initial piece seemed to have sought for, wiping the dust off the "smokescreen of ruling elite and their internet rats" with his piece, giving us a clear view of the 'unfolding' drama and an assurance of unlikelihood of existence of such "mischief" these hounds are "making" us to believe. Now that we have just been told, no such "manipulations" will blur our vision, hoping that we will not be seated at the darkside of the cinema hall any more. Mr. Atere is a superb intelligent mind, he understands me better.

Let me end this letter by assuring my friend and brother that we remain infallible to enemies' antics and manipulations, they can't win the poll, not with their subtle mischief.

Lastly, let me salute Mr. Atere's courage for finding time to add his voice to the echo of freedom chanting in the state, inspite of his tight schedule as a public servant, God bless you.
