Defending champions Kwara, defeated hard fighting Kaduna State by 2-0 to emerge winners of this year’s edition of the annual YSFON organized Oba Cup for U-13 boys  which was concluded at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City.

The match which was keenly contested saw, Kwara State dictating the pace of the game from the blast of the whistle and wasted no time in scoring two goals to ensure they retained the trophy it won last year.

In the third place match, hosts Edo defeated Bauchi by 2-1 emerge as the third best team in the 23 year old tournament.

Presenting the trophy to the winning team, President of YSFON, Nasiru Gawuna who was represented by the federation’s secretary-general, Patrick Okpavuerhe urged coaches to always monitor grassroots competitions to enable them discover talents that will do the country proud in future just as he appealed to various state governments to partner with YSFON through sponsorship of its tournaments.

In his closing remarks at the occasion, Chairman of Edo State YSFON, Osamudiamen Osagiede commended all the participating teams for displaying good sportsmanship throughout the duration on the week- long championship regretted that this year’s edition lacked sponsorship and appealed to Edo State Government to support the body in organizing the 24th edition to enable it surpass the successes recorded in previous editions.

The finals which attracted many football fans was spiced up with the presence Benin High Chiefs who represented the Oba.
